Originally from Gretna, Nebraska, Ellen Emanuel is a master’s student in the Department of Biological Systems Engineering at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. Her graduate research includes studying the techno-economics of lignocellulosic ethanol production. She is interested in alternative energy, sustainability and resource management. Ellen only recently discovered her interest in water used for agriculture, and she is looking forward to learning more from her experience at DWFI.
Ellen completed her bachelor’s degree in biological systems engineering at UNL, and worked as an intern for UNL’s technology transfer office, NUtech Ventures. While at NUtech Ventures, Ellen evaluated new technology disclosures for intellectual property potential. She hopes to apply her experience researching and evaluating new technologies to the ag-water sector as she works on a water security and entrepreneurship report for DWFI.
