The Syrian Crisis

In April 2016, the Robert B. Daugherty Water for Food Global Institute, the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the International Arid Lands Consortium hosted a workshop on the intersection between water scarcity, human security and democratization as they relate to the Syrian refugee crisis in the arid lands of the Middle East. A team of staff and interns from DWFI traveled to Jordan to learn about water and agriculture in the region and humanitarian issues related to the Syrian crisis. The trip allowed the interns to meet with several workshop speakers, to learn about key issues on the ground, as well as providing background information and content for the workshop.
